The ongoing commingling of sports and the Internet has taught us a good bit. A lot of it is bad. One specific le son any and all fan bases should be really, really slow to take the moral high ground. Every large group of people is going to be composed of lots of different personality types, and some of those personality types are, inevitably, going to be gro s. The Cardinals have gro s fans, the Cubs have gro s fans, the Flyers have gro s fans, the Penguins have gro s fans one yelled "Flyers suck" during a moment of silence for late owner Ed Snider last week on and on, into infinity. We play the cards we're dealt, though, andWhite had just watched fans of his team chuck fairly heavy stuff my friend's wife was hit in the back, and she said it hurt into a crowd of people. Whether they were mad at the refs, the players, some combo of the two, or neither, they should not have done that. And White, if he bears one bit of responsibility here,should not have actively encouraged them to do it again. Throwing stuff at sporting events, at the risk of moralizing, isstupid, no matter where it happens. You think we'd have learned that collectively by now.
