Co-organizers of the Conference and the Summer Workshop were the Museum of Typography and Graphic Arts Technology of the University of Ioannina, the Panhellenic Association of Technology Graduates of Graphic Arts (HELGRAMED) and the Professional Screen Printing Association of Greece (SEME) with the support of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Ioannina. Both the conference and the summer workshop were attended by around 120 presenters, conference participants, trainers and summer workshop trainees from across the spectrum of graphic arts, printing, typography, packaging and screen printing.
The Panhellenic Conference was the first and unique of its kind in Greece in the scientific and technological fields and branches mentioned above, while in combination with the 2nd summer workshop image manipulation service it was an event of exceptional importance in the events of the specific branches, sciences and arts. About 30 graphic arts technologists participated in the organization and implementation, carrying out a particularly difficult and complex project with absolute consistency and efficiency. On Sunday, July 1st, the opening ceremony of the Museum of Typography and Graphic Arts Technology was held by the Rector of the University of Ioannina, Professor Mr. Georgios Kapsalis, in the presence of important officials and the delegates.
The speeches of the Conference included a wide range of topics in the scientific and technological fields of Printing, Packaging, History of Typography and Graphic Arts – Museums and Collections, Art, Print and Electronic Media Design issues, Developments and Innovations in Packaging, and Arts and Technology subjects in Communication and Graphic Arts. The conference was opened by the newly elected Rector of the University of Ioannina, Professor Triantafyllos Albanis. Anastasios Politis made the introductory speech on innovations and developments in the graphic arts and was welcomed by Mrs. Emma Tuddenham, on behalf of Fespa. Speakers included leading scientists such as Klimis Mastoridis, Ivana Ziljak – Stanimirovic and Graeme Richardson Locke (Fespa). As part of the session on developments and innovations in Packaging, speeches were made by Theodoros Kalkavouras, (Hellenic Association of Labellers - ELSET), Avgerino Hatzichrysos (FORLABELS SA), Georgios Sarantidis (UNIMAG-ESKO) and Nikos Halioris Syntech EPE.
