Many capitals around the world are experiencing increasing levels of air pollution. The authorities must take urgent measures to combat this emergency that affects the lives of city residents daily. These days, several European cities suffer from high pollution. A good example is what is happening in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, where in recent days the people who live there have had to endure a dense cloud of pollution, according to Efe. Low temperatures have aggravated this phenomenon and in recent months, PM-10 particle levels have exceeded the recommended level by 25 times. Given this, the authorities have provided free public transportation since Tuesday so that people use their private vehicles less, which is expected to reduce pollution rates. "Public transport will be free until we see that pollution has been reduced," said Skopje Mayor Koce Trajanovski. Meanwhile, Vlado Spiridonov, professor of meteorology, tells Efe that: "The industry, the cars and the stagnant air in the Skopje valley, the high pressures... everything contributes to this situation." If effective, this measure could be implemented in other cities that suffer from high levels of air pollution.

What do you think? When climate change and its harmful effects threaten the entire world, we have no choice but to integrate initiatives that help reduce its impact and repair the damage that humans have caused to planet Earth. Without a doubt one of the problems that contributes to the environmental crisis and affects cities is public transportation. Aware of this and the electricity consumption generated by Europe Cell Phone Number List transporting more than 600,000 people daily, in Holland they decided to resort to wind energy to power their trains. How does this renewable resource work? To obtain energy, wind turbines are used connected to a network that is responsible for distributing the energy obtained. Although if you need to go into more detail about the procedure of these wind turbines, we recommend you watch the following video: To take advantage of the use of these engines and the impulse of the wind, the railway company NS decided to partner with the energy company Eneco with the aim of reducing the emissions generated by electric trains. Initially, this alliance had a goal of 2018 to feed all its trains, however this transition was completed much earlier. Both in Holland and in other countries, they take advantage of windmills to generate energy and now their trains are the first in history to run on energy obtained from the wind.

Which is a great step and example for all railway companies and in general for the companies in charge of mobility in cities. Since January 1, 2017, 100% of our trains are running on wind power, said NS spokesperson Ton Boon. Eneco points out that a windmill produces the energy necessary to supply the 193-kilometer route of a train in one hour, so another of Eneco's objectives is to reduce the energy consumed per passenger by up to 35% by 2020. To announce this development, NS CEO Roger Boxtel decided to tie himself to a windmill with a harness. Watch the video below! The IUCN, the international organization that draws up the list of animals in danger of extinction every year in order to raise awareness about the risks of biodiversity, removed the giant pandas from the list of species on the verge of extinction. It is vitally important that animals that we describe as “beautiful” are cared for, however, we must not forget that the world is full of tens of thousands of animal species. And most are not as “huggable” as pandas. In fact, there are some that are “ugly”… but that also have a fundamental weight in the maintenance of biodiversity.
