Become your own boss. Abandon the salary structure and its hierarchy. Choose your schedules and your clients… There are many exciting reasons to go freelance! However, I hate articles that stupidly praise Freelancing. They are often written by people who have no idea of the real difficulties of Freelancers. However, I can write dozens of articles on struggling Freelancers… The outline of a freelance launch is unfortunately often the same: Leave your CDI Take a self-employed status Get one or two missions via your personal network Being rather happy to earn for the first time in his life 300 or 400 euros per day And then find out... the expectation of the Freelancer ! The Freelance is waiting to be called. The Freelancer is waiting to be contacted via his site. The Freelancer is waiting for a private message to be sent to him on Linkedin. The Freelancer is waiting for a response to his quote proposal.

The Freelance waits, waits and waits again… Freelance life is not that simple. There are many obstacles, including one in particular that I will develop in this article: the lack of specialization . I leave you 15 minutes with Alexandre Dana , Director of the LiveMentor School, who explains the many advantages of specializing in Freelance in this video! To introduce this series of articles on Freelance issues , I would first like to discuss  the story of Camille Bonnevial. Camille is Mobile Phone Number a LiveMentor student, who had complicated beginnings as a Freelancer, until the discovery of her specialization. I will also reveal useful tips for learning how to specialize as a Freelancer. At the end of this article, you will find a very useful exercise , which we advise all Freelancers to do. Here is the outline of this article: Camille's story – Freelance graphic designer 5 good reasons to specialize when you're a freelancer What is a good freelance specialization? An exercise to do CAMILLE'S STORY – FREELANCE GRAPHIC DESIGNER Camille is just 25 years old and she is a freelance graphic designer.

She had always dreamed of freedom and travel, but without daring to really start. Her goal in life was  to be her own boss and work when she wants... from where she wants. Let's go back to his story! When she started out, she was like the majority of the other Freelancers around her. That is to say,  accept any mission, even if it means lowering her prices and doing things that she did not want to do at all. She told herself that she didn't really have a choice. She thought the best strategy was to aim as wide as possible and not be too demanding on her missions. For her, specializing in Freelance was like closing doors on yourself… Camille is not the only one to think this way. Unfortunately, this is a mistake that many freelancers make. Why ?… Well, simply fear! The fear of missing out on opportunities , the fear of specializing in a niche that is too small or even the fear of saying no to your first customers . But let's be clear,  if a client agrees to hire a Freelancer who is not specialized for a mission, it is a very bad signal! What we generally notice is that even if they are aware of the importance of specialization, some Freelancers are hesitant for fear of not finding the one that really suits them. At LiveMentor, we don't believe there is a magic recipe for “finding out who you really are”.
