Miranda apologized after the film was released because there were no dark-skinned Afro-Latinx actors in the film's main roles. "We failed in our attempt to paint the mosaic of this community. I am truly sorry," Miranda said in a statement on Twitter. So keep this colorism in mind when watching and take this title and this entire list with a grain of salt. Both are daughters of immigrant parents and are teenagers trying to understand life in South Dakota.
